Management Skills for Supervisors is a short course with flexible study options, both In-person or online, that introduces experienced tradespeople to the fundamentals of coaching and the core principles of conflict resolution, essential skills for those managing diverse groups of employees in today’s dynamic labour market. It explores current best practices for employee management and provides insight on how to foster a positive workplace environment by embracing open, honest, and productive communication.

Students will learn how to give and receive feedback as a manager, identify and support the personal and professional growth of team members, and set and manage team goals. The course will help tradespeople develop their unique management “voice” through creation of an inter/intrapersonal action plan, explore the role of team members and the characteristics of successful teams, and develop an action plan to deal with non-functioning teams.

Emerging Leadership Foundation

Micro-credential - 150-hrs, Online

The Emerging Leadership Foundation is a comprehensive program of online courses specifically designed to prepare experienced tradespersons for future leadership roles. Those enrolled in this program will gain important knowledge and skills in management best practices, conflict resolution, and effective communications, and learn how to create a positive workplace culture and productive workplace environment that will ensure profitability and contribute to the overall success of an organization.
